"My art is a song of praise and a call for stewardship. It speaks to remembered moments through selected bits and pieces from the natural world, usually with a reference to trees." Hagen creates "assembled landscapes" using encaustic medium, reclaimed wood, papers, fabrics, wayside plant materials and the detritus of prior works as pieces of storytelling elements. "Process and subject intertwine as I contemplate loss, devastation and erosion versus perseverance, fertility and new growth."
